Open AutoCAD drawing with custom template automatically

by Rezz on November 8, 2010

When you open up new AutoCAD drawing you might prompt with this dialog box;

To skip this dialog box and tell AutoCAD to open specific template automatically, you can do it with this steps;

1. Click New

2. Open acadlt.dwt (or other template file)new-drawing-without-wizard

3. Right click at drawing, Click Option.

4. Expand Template Settings>Default Template File Name. Click None and click browse.

5. Select your AutoCAD template file (mine is acadlt-with-layer.dwt), click Open.

6. Click Apply, click OK.

By setting up this option, next time you click for New Drawing AutoCAD will open this custom template automatically and make your life a bit easier. :)

I recommend you to include your preset layer in this template too. So you don’t have to recreate your basic layers every time.
